Genius is a premiere lyric website with a dedicated community revealing deeper knowledge through annotations. Every song has a story that needs to be told, and the biggest names in music—including Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Lin-Manuel Miranda—come to Genius to give the world insight into their art. We have worked with Genius on everything from their digital products to strategy to show packages.
In addition to being the best place to to learn about your favorite songs, Genius is the best place to hear from your favorite artists and get the latest in music news and knowledge. From long form interviews like the show IRL to rapid fire questions like 10 for 10, Genius always goes deeper into the music and what makes an artist tick. We design and produce show packages as mini brands, allowing Genius to focus on the content.
In 2016 there were over one billion page views on Genius, that's a lot of eyes. To highlight exactly what people were looking at, Genius dug through the stats to highlight everything from the top viewed producer to the top viewed lyric. We helped bring this list to life with a kinetic type system used across editorial and video content.
Coordinating with artists and their labels, Genius is helping bring lyrics to life. Lyric Videos are an engaging and direct way for an artist to get some buzz stirring around a new single. Above are some examples of videos we created with the Genius brand.
Genius and Spotify teamed up to create Behind the Lyrics, bringing you facts about the track, annotations from the artist and the knowledge of the Genius community when listening to the songs you love. We were tasked with bringing their epic launch event to life. We created realtime explanations of this new feature, tons of animated visuals, invites and cover art for Behind the Lyrics playlists found on Spotify.
As an extension of the Genius mobile app we created a sticker pack that uses the most iconic ad-libs, sayings and outbursts from your favorite rappers. Perfect for when you don't quite know what to say, or boring english doesn't cut it.
